Co-washes are often used when your curls require a quick refresh, such as mid-week when your hair may not be that dirty but you would like to restyle. It is important to know, co-washing on its own is not enough to maintain the right balance for your scalp.

This formula, in particular, is not a standard cleansing conditioner nor a replacement for shampoos. Keep in mind that it does not contain foaming surfactants either. Kink Co-wash is heavily 'oil' based, which means it uses oil to emulsify sebum and or sweat on your hair. Therefore, it should not be applied directly on the scalp. It’s important to incorporate clarifying and/or regular sulphate-free lathering shampoos in your routine to avoid build-up.

"Castor Oil has natural antibacterial and antifungal properties and is high in Vitamin E, minerals, proteins, and omega -6 and -9 beneficial fatty acids. It actually has a total of 18 fatty acids in total. But what makes it super beneficial for your hair is its unusually high levels of ricinoleic acid. Ricinoleic acid helps increase circulation to the scalp and improves hair growth. It nourishes the hair roots so that hair grows stronger, and balances scalp pH, which keeps the scalp functioning at its ideal oil levels."

"Marshmallow root is abundant in mucilage and is excellent for coating and preventing irritation. When applied to hair, mucilage binds to proteins and works wonders as a hair detangler and conditioner. Marshmallow root replenishes amino acids which are the building blocks of protein that are essential in maintaining hair's structural integrity. It is also loaded with vitamins A and C and minerals like zinc and iron that can nourish the scalp to facilitate a healthy environment for hair growth."

• IMPORTANT: Do not apply directly on the scalp, focus instead on the length of your hair. If your hair feels dry after co-washing, consider incorporating deep conditioning treatments or leave-in conditioners to further nourish and hydrate your hair. Remember, everyone’s hair is unique, and what works for one person may not work for another. It may take some trial and error to find the right co-washing routine and products that suit your hair type and address your specific concerns. Pay attention to how your hair responds and make adjustments as needed to ensure optimal results.
• Your Ritual: Wet your hair with lukewarm water, ensuring it is thoroughly saturated. Apply the co-wash to your palms and massage it onto the length of your hair, avoiding the scalp. Start at your ends and work your way up to the mid-shaft of the hair. Add water as you go to help distribute the product. Take some time to work the co-wash onto the lengths of your hair and begin to detangle and remove loose hairs. If your hair is very tangly, let it sit for a few minutes before detangling, adding water as you go. Rinse your hair thoroughly with cool water while gently massaging the scalp to help remove all of the co-wash from your hair. Style your hair as desired using additional styling products if needed.
