Plant Priestess Hydrating Serum
If you ask us, the Barbary Fig is pretty fly for a cacti. Which is why we're using it in our Plant Priestess Hydrating Serum.
This water based, lightweight serum is poised to deliver hydration with a precise cocktail of prickly pear seed oil, rice extract, green tea extract, aloe vera extract and hyaluronic acid.
"Prickly pear seed oil (barbary fig oil) is made from the seeds of the Optunia Ficus Indica cactus. They thrive in hot, arid areas of the world – like Morocco."
For years, the prickly pear seed oil has been known for its moisturising properties. It has been said that this oil works for all skin types; dry skin, sensitive skin, or mature skin.
"One of the oil's most interesting benefits comes from its vitamin K content. Research has shown this helps minimise the appearance of stubborn under-eye circles and hyperpigmentation."
"The prickly pear seed oil has also received praise for its high vitamin E and fatty acid (lionleic and oleic acid) content, together, they help to restore elasticity while delivering hydration."
"It has also been reported as an ideal oil for those who experience frequent acne, as it's non-comedogenic and helps prevent sebum from hardening and encouraging acne to develop."
"Rice Extract is said to help condition and soften skin. Like oatmeal, it has the husk that is great for skin problems such as psoriasis and eczema. At the same time; it also has anti-aging and brightening capabilities."
“Clinical studies have found green tea extract to be full of powerful antioxidant called polyphenols. This means the ingredient scavenges for free radicals in your skin to protect it from damage."
"The most noteworthy polyphenol found in green tea is epigallocatechin gallate, or EGCG. Other polyphenols that are extracted from green tea are beneficial for treating acne and unclogging pores since they’re a powerful antibacterial agent for the skin."
"In addition to warding off free radical damage and keeping skin clear, green tea is good for your skin because it’s highly moisturizing. It improves your skin’s ability to retain moisture."
"Aloe vera extract has been said to have soothing properties, antioxidant qualities, and serves as a hydrating agent."
"Hyaluronic acid is a water-holding gel with the ability to hold 1000 times its own weight in moisture. When it’s applied topically, skin acts as an effective barrier. This means it draws water into skin to keep it hydrated and supple."
"For those who live in humid climates or have very dry skin, it is recommended that you layer your hyaluronic acid serum with a moisturizer. Doing this helps seal it into your skin and provides a barrier against moisture loss. It also helps to apply the serum to damp (not completely dry) skin for better results."
