Reckless Rosewater Toner
Rose water has been used for centuries, and it's no wonder. Rife with hydrating and soothing abilities, as well as natural antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial powers, it’s a beauty powerhouse.
Rose water is created by steaming rose petals in water. It has been used for centuries in the Middle East as a beauty tool and has a multitude of benefits for hair and skin. Rose water helps control excess sebum production, doubling down as a clarifier to improve the appearance of pores. If your skin isn't irritated, it'll still help hydrate dry skin. A few spritzes can be used to prep skin for makeup, and even to freshen makeup after a long shoot.
Rose water fights inflammation, helping to reduce redness and blotchiness. It is great for your overall pH balance, helping the acid mantle of the skin to perform and operate optimally to fight off bacteria, allergens, pollutants, and other influences trying to get into the skin.
"The oldest people of Qamsar claim that it was the first city in Iran to harvest rose water. Rose water production has been a part of the culture for at least seven hundred years. Anyone in this country would know Qamsar as the city of fragrance and rose water. Even in countries around the world the city's reputation is widely known and respected.
Roses are a flower crop that has a volatile fragrance. In the direct sunlight, the breeze will allow its fragrance to escape by the minute. Therefore we must pick the flowers in the morning. The roses will be transferred to the processing facility where they are distilled to make both the precious oil and the water. The process, from harvest to distillation, must happen within twenty-four hours of the picking, or the quality is inferior."
There are a few ways you can add a hydrosol to your beauty rituals besides using it as a gentle toner. Here are some ideas:
- Use it in place of water when you mix powdered masks.
- Wipe it over your face to remove the grime of the day and refresh the skin.
- Combine it with a face or body oil (in your palm) to help the oil absorb into the skin.
- Mist your skin with it right before applying a serum or moisturizer to help those products absorb better.
- 50ml or 100ml
- Housed in amber PET plastic spray bottle(s)
- Imported from Iran and sourced in small batches
- Your Ritual: After cleansing, spritz your skin generously with a hydrosol and leave it to dry. Alternatively, you can dampen a clean cotton ball or reusable face round with your chosen hydrosol and gently blot the skin all over your face and neck. Feel free to gently sweep it across your face, using upward strokes (if you'd like) before allowing it to dry. Continue with the next step in your morning and night skincare routine.
- Ingredient: Rose Water.
