A return to self, guided by movement.

While I love a good massage, sometimes what I really need is an at-home pick-me-up. A routine that can quickly be deployed any time I'm feeling stagnant, swollen, or just plain blah. Enter a a self-care ritual to retreat into. Kahe aims to elevate your self-care practice by bringing together lymphatic drainage massage and traditional wood therapy.

"Traditional lymphatic drainage massage is a way to manually stimulate the superficial lymphatic layer located in the dermis, where the majority of your lymphatic vessels exist, right above the muscle bed. The strokes of lymphatic massage are designed to mimic your innate physiological pulse and propel lymph toward the lymph nodes for excretion."

Experience the expertly contoured design of the Kahe tool, designed to sculpt different areas of the body. When used daily, it reduces inflammation, swelling, and improves circulation, making it a suitable tool for achieving balance. Helping your lymph along is one way to take a moment to think about how your body is feeling at any given time.

Before you reach for the tool, it's important to "open" your lymph nodes. Doing so will encourage lymph to drain more efficiently. Start by lightly pumping the lymph nodes located behind your ears, on your neck, in your armpits, in your groin area, and behind your knees to activate them since we're going to be moving fluid towards them. In my practice, I used my fingers to press on them slightly 10 to 15 times each.

Then, it's time to reach for your favorite body oil for slip. Apply a generous amount of oil (I suggest Bhumi) so that Kahe can glide easily across your skin. Apply more if needed while using Kahe. More detailed instructions are available below.

  • A Raw Rebel curated find
  • Measurements: 31cm (L) x 15cm (W)
  • Material: Beech Wood
  • Your Ritual: Always use on clean skin after shower and apply our Bhumi All Over oil to help smooth and control the scrapping motion. Massage body in upwards strokes towards the heart. ARMS: Holding your Body Tool in a vertical position, glide the tool from the crease of your elbow up to your armpit, working toward your axillary lymph nodes. Move to your lower arm and glide the tool from your wrist to your elbow, then all the way from wrist to armpit. CHEST: Gently glide your tool from the center of your chest to your armpit, then underneath the chest towards the armpit. Fluid from your breasts drains to these lymph nodes, so use gentle nurturing pressure in this area. WAIST: Hold your tool in a vertical position and glide it from the side of your waist up to your armpit, then from behind your torso to the front of your body. THIGHS: Holding the tool in a horizontal position, start above your knee and gently stroke upward toward your bikini line area (where your inguinal lymph nodes are located). Massage the back of your thighs by holding the tool in a vertical position and gently stroking upward until you reach the gluteal fold. I recommend using a stepstool or a chair for easier reach. Finish your ritual with diaphragmatic breathing to help move lymph fluid through your thoracic duct. Make sure to hydrate by drinking plenty of water, and make space for mindful movement to further support lymph flow.
  • Frequency: For best results, use morning or night for up to 15 minutes daily. More is not better in this case.
  • Care: Do not directly wet the tool. Use a damp wash cloth (make sure to squeeze out any additional water). Spray it with isopropyl alcohol (a clean, sustainable disinfectant that is great for removing germs or any access product that has built up on the tool). Gently wipe down the body tool (front, back, curves & edges).
Lay the tool out flat to air dry on a small towel for 2 to 5 minutes indoors.
  • Cautions: Consult your healthcare practitioner before use if pregnant. Keep out of reach of children.
